Course Concept
The short course offers an overview of recent and
newly developed methods and techniques in hydroinformatics
which are required to efficiently solve research and practical
problems in hydroengineering and environmental engineering. It
offers theoretical knowledge and practical application for
flexible development and adaptable use of modern software and
net components. Main focus will be the actual evolution in
information and communication technology and the corresponding
reflection in hydroinformatics systems as well as in the
working process in hydroengineering and hydroscience projects.
The course is structured in five days, each with a specific
topic: hydroinformatics systems in general, numerical modeling,
information modeling, GIS-based modeling and Web-based systems.
Besides an overview and the theoretical background, all five
topics will provide demonstrations on suitable application in
research projects and for PhD and MSc theses. The short course
can be used for personal consultation with the course lecturers
as well as for open discussions among the course
participants.
Target Group
The
course is directed to researchers, MSc and PhD students as well
as practical engineers from industry and administration who want
to broaden their knowledge in modern hydroinformatics systems to use
newly developed methods in combination with modern information
and communication technologies for a better solution of their
research or practical work.
Participants should have
basic knowledge of modern computer systems in hydroengineering.
The short course gives a generalized overview in modern
Hydroinformatics Systems.
Academic Recognition
All course participants will receive a participation certificate with the description of the course contents. Academic recognition will be offered by a voluntary examination at the end of the course or by an online examination after the course. A successful examination is the prerequisite for a special certificate indicating 3 ECTS.
