Motivation

On slopes vegetation was planted and dams were constructed in channels for controlling soil losses. However, the contribution mechanisms of vegetation and dams to sediment, interception are still unclear.This work focuses on effects of slope vegetation and dams on hydrological and hydrodynamic characteristics. Based on the GPU Accelerated Surface-water and Transport Model(GAST), the runoff and sediment transport for slopes will be investigated. Then, hydrology-hydrodynamic model will be applied to simulate the spatial-temporal dynamics of runoff, soil erosion, and deposition processes. The simulation results can evaluate the contribution rates of slope and channel measures for controlling the soil and water losses. Further, effective measure will be chosen to conserve the soil and water.
